WELCOME
Greetings from beautiful UC San Diego! We hope this message finds you in good health and staying safe during these unprecedented times. This Fall, we welcomed 9,655 students back to live on campus, while 30,131 students are currently living off-campus. During our week-long move-in process we conducted nearly 6,000 COVID-19 tests. This ambitious and diligent testing process resulted in ten positive cases (0.17%) among those who moved in at that time. Fall quarter began on October 1 with 6% of our classes being held in-person. As we continue to provide our students with a superb education, whether they're returning strictly on a virtual basis or back on campus and taking advantage of our hybrid curriculum, please know that the same, and in some cases even BETTER, resources are available to all.
Within our Triton Community, there are a multitude of exceptional resources available to our diverse student body. Our campus centers are an excellent example of one way for students to engage. Please visit our Office for Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion webpage at diversity.ucsd.edu for information and individual links to our Campus Community Centers – APIMEDA (Asian Pacific Islander Middle Eastern Desi American), Black Resource Center, Cross Cultural Center, Intertribal Resource Center, LGBT Resource Center; Raza Resource Centro and Women's Center – which provide resources for students, faculty and staff. Our military-connected population has a home away from home at the Student Veteran's Resource Center. We humbly thank these students for their service. Visit svrc.ucsd.edu to learn more. The Triton Transfer Hub caters to our transfer student population and will celebrate National Transfer Student Week later this month. Please visit transferstudents.ucsd.edu to check out some of their specific resources.
Each of the centers I've brought to your attention have their own unique virtual programs, workshops, presentations and events that help keep our Triton Community informed, aware, updated and – dare I say – having some fun while learning! Even with this unique situation in which the world currently finds itself, the possibilities are endless here at UC San Diego!
