Location

Triton Days Open House takes place throughout UC San Diego’s central campus. Our address is 9500 Gilman Drive, La Jolla, CA 92093. We encourage you to review the campus map ahead of time so you can easily find your way on event day.

Clear directional signs and staff will be available to guide you, but please be aware that with more than 12,000 guests expected, campus will be lively and busy—so plan a little extra time to navigate.

Activities

During Triton Days Open House, you’ll have the chance to explore campus through three main activities:

  • Resource Fairs – Meet staff and faculty at interactive tables, ask questions, and pick up some Triton swag.
  • Department Open Houses – Step inside department spaces to learn more about programs, opportunities, and the support available to you.
  • Information Sessions – Hear directly from your school and/or department, and campus support programs and services to gain valuable insights.

Please Note: You won’t be able to attend every activity throughout the day. We recommend prioritizing the Resource Fairs and Department Open Houses, where you can connect directly with staff and faculty and get your questions answered. Information Sessions provide general insights and do not include dedicated Q&A time.

Parking & Directions

With so many students, traffic may be heavy, so we encourage you to plan ahead. Arrive early to secure a convenient spot, remember where you park, and allow enough time to enjoy the activities that interest you.

Skip the traffic with public transit! Take the Blue Line Trolley or use a ride-share service. For trolley schedules, check the MTS website. We recommend parking at La Jolla Village Square Trolley Station (Nobel Drive exit) and taking the trolley directly to UC San Diego’s central campus.

FAQ

Who can register for this event?

This is an invite-only event. Registration is open exclusively to first-year admitted students and transfer applicant students. If you include parent or guardian information during registration, they will receive email notifications to stay informed. Please note that all registrations and portal access must be completed by the student.

Do I need to stay for the entire day?

No, you’re welcome to attend only the sessions and activities that interest you. Staying for the full day, however, ensures you don’t miss any valuable opportunities or information.

Can I bring my pets?

Pets are not allowed at the event, with the exception of service animals. Service animals must wear their certified vest while on campus.

Is this event only available in person?

Yes, this is an in-person event. Attending on-site lets you fully enjoy tours, activities, and networking opportunities.

What are some local accommodations to consider?

Nearby hotels include Sheraton La Jolla, Estancia La Jolla Hotel & Spa, and Hyatt Regency La Jolla. We recommend booking early to secure your stay.

Will I be able to visit every activity?

No, you won’t be able to attend every activity since many happen at the same time. We recommend prioritizing Resource Fairs and Department Open Houses, which allow direct interaction and Q&A with staff and faculty. Information sessions are primarily presentations without Q&A. Many of the insights shared in these sessions are also available online or through virtual events leading up to Triton Days, so you won’t miss key information if you can’t attend every session.

How will I be able to access the event schedule and maps?

Close to the event date, we will release a mobile event app called Guidebook. You can use it to create a personalized schedule, plan your day, and locate activities on campus. Please note that the app helps with planning but does not guarantee seating in information sessions.

What information will I gain from the information sessions?

Information sessions are 30-minute presentations that provide insights into academic programs and student services. Most are held in classrooms with limited capacity and no standing room. Popular sessions may fill up quickly, so we encourage flexibility and patience. Some sessions are specifically designed for first-year students, transfers, or both—use the Guidebook app to find the tracks that apply to you.

What can I expect to learn at the resource fair?

At the resource fair, you’ll connect with representatives from various campus organizations, student services, and departments to learn about the support and opportunities available.

What should I focus on during an open house?

During an open house, take the opportunity to explore facilities, meet faculty and staff, and get a firsthand look at the environment to see if it’s the right fit for you.

How should I prepare for the event day?

Check your email regularly, as it will be our main way of communicating updates. We recommend downloading the Guidebook event app ahead of time to review the full schedule and create a personalized itinerary by favoriting the activities you’d like to attend. Note: Favoriting activities does not guarantee entry to limited-capacity sessions. Bring comfortable shoes and essentials like a notebook, pen, refillable water bottle, and any money you may need to make the most of your experience.
